Italy: Rome to Umbria : Arriving in Assisi to dark skies, I thought my luck would never change. Rain had haunted this trip ever since I left Rome, and the Umbrian countryside had not yet yielded its jewels to my viewfinder. The first hint of change, beams of sunlight puncturing the dark clouds, were soon followed by gusts of wind shepherding the dispersing rainmakers away from the plains surrounding Assisi. The rainbow that appeared shortly after completed the circle of inspiration that gave birth to the photographs below.
