Many summer evenings have found me in Malibu, with sunset but the first act of a moonless night's show. This is probably the singular location in Los Angeles County where one can see the Milky Way, but that story will have to wait for another day... there are plenty left in our self-quarantines. On this day, sunset coincided to low tide, and for an entire week the coast had been battered by high surf, exposing many of the moss-covered boulders that are usually buried deep beneath the sand. Photographing seascapes invariably necessitates being knee deep in the surf and getting drenched, and this day was no exception. Photographed September 2017, Malibu, California.
Oxarafoss waterfall in Thingvellir National Park is partly frozen by the winter cold and partly by the 2-minute exposure at dusk. Photographed March 2018.
